CFC membership is required and may be purchased on site. Annual membership is $43 for adults, $28 for juniors. CFC tournament membership is $20 for adults, $10 for juniors. Please buy CFC memberships at https://www.chess.ca/en/ website.

Time Control: Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move

Saturday, November 9: 12 noon and 5 pm
Sunday, November 10: 10 am and 3 pm
Monday, November 11: 10 am and 3 pm

Pre-registered players (which means you have paid already) do not have to check in before round one. Please show up at 11:45 for pre-tournament announcements.

$20 Juniors (under 20 years old), senior players (over 65), FMs, females, first time CFC players ** Only 1 discount per player.

Playing up a Section: Players who were not rated high enough when they registered or on Nov 9, can play up one section for an additional $40.

Byes: A maximum of two half-point byes available in rounds 1-5 if requested before the start of round 1. A round 6 bye is a 0 point bye.

Withdrawal: Please inform the director if you plan to withdraw from the tournament.

Prizes: ((100 % of the Sum of entry fees, minus the ACA dues of $10 per paid entry and minus other expenses not covered by ACA)) $500 added to 1st prize. If a tie, then an Armageddon playoff for the $500 anonymous donation. Armageddon rules will be posted at site.

BANFF OPEN 2024 CHESS COVID POLICY

Currently, there is not much in terms of COVID protocol for the province of Alberta or the Banff Centre campus. Masks are no longer required on campus (can still be worn if preferred) and mandatory social distancing is not in effect. If a participant is showing symptoms and/or has tested positive, they should isolate at home for 5 days from the start of symptoms and wear a mask for the next 5 days while in indoor spaces with other people. We then would let other participants know they could be a close contact.

No eating is allowed in tournament rooms. Drinks are permitted.

a) The above rates are quoted in Canadian dollars, are net, non-commissionable and are exclusive of all
taxes and fees.
b) Guestroom rates are subject to applicable taxes in effect at the time of the program, including two
percent (2%) TIF, four percent (4%) ATL, and five percent (5%) GST.
c) Guestroom rates are subject to a facility fee of $15.00 plus fees and taxes per room, per night. This fee
includes: campus-wide Wi-Fi, phone calls across North America, and access to complimentary arts and
programmed events when available.
d) Triple and quadruple accommodation is available at an additional cost of $20.00 plus fees and taxes
per person, per night in Two-Bedded Guestrooms only. Banff Centre allows a maximum of four (4)
adults per guestroom on a bed-share basis. There will be no additional charge for children up to the
age of fourteen (14) years who share with their parents or guardian.
e) The above guestroom rates will be extended to cover the periods that are three (3) days pre-event and
three (3) days post-event, subject to availability.
f) In the event that a guest within the room block checks out prior to their confirmed check-out date, Banff
Centre will apply an early departure fee of $75.00 plus fees and taxes to the individual’s account.
Departure date must be confirmed at check-in to avoid an early departure fee.
g) Full cancellation penalties apply for guests cancelling reservations within seventy-two (72) hours of
arrival. Should the room block sell out, Banff Centre agrees to add guest rooms to the room block at
the Group’s rate as the need arises, subject to availability.
h) Check-in time is 04:00PM. Every effort is made to accommodate guests arriving before the check-in
time; however, guestrooms may not be immediately available. Check-out time is 11:00AM. Requests
to retain rooms beyond that hour should be directed to the front desk once the delegate is registered.
Should it be possible to extend a late check-out, a late departure charge may be applicable.
