Saturday
On-site registration: 9:15 am – 9:45 am
Rounds 1-3: 10 am, 2 pm, 6 pm
Sunday
Rounds 4-5: 10 am, 2 pm or ASAP
Registration: Fill out the form above. Payment will be made on site by either cash or cheque made out to the Alberta Chess Association. Pre-registered players must come by 9:45 am on Saturday, or they won’t be paired.
Format: 5 round open Swiss. CFC & FIDE rated. Default late time is 60 minutes. A 30-minute break between games is guaranteed. Players may request up to two half point byes for rounds 1-4 prior to the start of the tournament.
Entry fee: $35 if pre-registered online by noon, Friday, May 3. $40 after. CFC membership is required and may be purchased on-site. Annual membership is $43 for adults, $28 for juniors. A single CFC tournament membership is $21 for adults, $11 for juniors.
Prizes: 50% of the entries (minus ACA dues of $5/player) will go to prizes which may include class prizes. The other 50% will be used to support the 14th Edmonton International Chess Festival. The winner will have the right to participate in the 14th Edmonton International if the following conditions are met:
a) The winner has an established FIDE rating,
b) The winner commits to playing by Monday, May 13th and pays a non-refundable $200 entry fee plus a $100 refundable deposit.
In case of a tie for first the qualification spot will be determined by the following tie break rules:
1. Head to head result (does not apply if more than two players are tied for first)
2. Cumulative
3. Bucholz
4. Sonnenborn-Berger
5. Won Games
6. Games Played with Black
5. Coin Toss
Cash prizes will be divided equally.
