Recent events that did not get FIDE rated – NOW RATED

The most recent Northern Alberta Open did not get FIDE rated. This was due to a misunderstanding of the process. The events have to be registered in advance. This used to be done by the Executive Director. Since the ACA no longer has an Executive Director, it should be the responsibility of the Secretary which I did not know. All future events for 2022 are now in the process of being registered by the CFC. This may be checked here https://ratings.fide.com/rated_tournaments.phtml?country=CAN

As Secretary of the ACA I apologize to all affected – Ian Findlay

The CFC has written a letter to FIDE to try to get the NOA and AB closed FIDE rated. I will keep you posted here. ** FIDE has said they will rate those 2 tournaments – I will keep you posted *** May 18, 2022

I am happy to report both the AB Closed and NOA have been FIDE rated *** June 2, 2022
