The mission of the Alberta Chess Association is as follows.
(a) To foster, promote, administer, and co-ordinate chess activities in Alberta.
(b) To give guidance to any group wishing to form a chess club in the province and to help maintain present clubs.
(c) To give direct assistance to junior chess, recognizing a need for special assistance.
(d) To host specific sponsored events to give continuity to chess in Alberta.
(e) To represent the Alberta chess community to the Chess Federation of Canada, local government, and other associations.
The Alberta Chess Association has traditionally listed another objective, one which was not in its original Constitution:
(f) To provide leadership and organizational training to those individuals and groups involved in chess in Alberta.
