Eligibility: Alberta residents who will have reached the age of 50 by December 31, 2024
Tournament format: 5-round Swiss, CFC & FIDE rated.
CFC membership is required and may be purchased on site. Annual membership is $43, CFC tournament membership is $20.
Time Control: Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move.
Schedule
Saturday
On-site registration: 9:15 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.
Rounds 1-3: 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m.
Sunday
Rounds 4-5: 10:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m. or ASAP
Default late time is 60 minutes. A 30-minute break between games is guaranteed.
Registration: Fill out the form below. Payment will be made on site by cash. Pre-registered players must arrive by 9:45 a.m. on Saturday or they won’t be paired.
Entry Fee: $40 if registered online before 11:00 p.m. Thursday, October 17. $50 afterwards and on site. Free entry for GM/IM/FM title holders.
Prizes: Sum of entry fees minus ACA dues of $10 per paid entry. The winner is eligible for a travel grant of up to $750 towards a trip to the 2025 Canadian Seniors Championship. If the 2025 Canadian Senior’s Championship does not take place as expected, the winner may apply to the ACA board to use the grant for another tournament (within one year of winning the award).
Byes: A maximum of two half-point byes available in rounds 1-4 if requested before the start of round 1.
