ACA membership is required to participate in any of our official tournaments. In most cases, ACA membership does not need to be purchased separately. This may be the case if you’ve purchased a club membership to some of our clubs, such as the Edmonton Chess Club.
It is also not necessary if you purchase a membership to the Chess Federation of Canada (CFC), as ACA membership is included in that fee. CFC membership is required to participate in any of our CFC-rated events (excepting all-junior events).
CFC membership fees, both annual and for single tournaments, can be found here. Please inquire at your local chess club for their membership fees.
Visitors from other provinces who have CFC membership do not have to purchase an additional ACA membership to participate in ACA tournaments.
Players who do not have a CFC membership – this is primarily juniors playing in all-junior events – should ensure their ACA membership is up to date.
ACA membership is good for one year from the date of purchase. Forms for ACA membership can be found here. Fees can either be paid to the tournament organizer or mailed to the ACA’s official address.
