Tournament format: 6-round Open Swiss, CFC and FIDE rated
CFC membership is required and may be purchased on site. Annual membership is $43 for adults, $28 for juniors.
CFC tournament membership is $21 for adults, $11 for juniors.
Time Control: Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move

Registration: Register in advance by filling out the information form above. Payment will be made on site by cash.
Pre-registered players must come by 11:45 am on the morning of the first round or they will not be paired.

$45 – adult male, not entitled to discount
$30 Juniors (under 20 years old)
$30 for senior players (over 65)

$20 for first time CFC players

Late fee – $5 late fee for not registering before Nov 9, 2018.
Byes: A maximum of two half-point byes available in rounds 1-5 if requested before the start of round 1.
Prizes: Sum of entry fees minus the ACA dues of $5 per paid entry plus donations to prize fund by sponsors. $1000 1st prize guaranteed (thanks to a $500 donation to 1st prize) and $1700 total prize fund guaranteed. In the event of a tie for 1st place, there will be an Armageddon playoff where the winner gets $500 more (as per donor request) than those tying with him/her.
Accommodation: Special chess rates at Banff Centre. $125 for double
occupancy, add $20 for a additional person, up to max of quad plus
applicable taxes. Guestroom rates are subject to a facility fee of $15.00 plus
GST per person, per day. This fee includes: campus-wide Wi-Fi, phone calls
across North America, access to Sally Borden Fitness and Recreation
facilities, parking, access and borrowing privileges at The Banff Centre
library and archives, and access to complimentary arts and programmed

A Wine and Cheese party will be held at the home of Ian Findlay and Janice
