2019 Alberta Closed Chess Championship

Tournament Format: 6-player round-robin, CFC & FIDE rated

Round Times
Friday, Apr 19: 7 pm
Saturday, Apr 20: 10 am, 4 pm
Sunday, Apr 21: 10 am, 4 pm
Default late time is 60 minutes

Time Control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one.

Prizes: $300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third. The Champion will receive a travel grant of up to $2,000 to represent Alberta at the 2019 Canadian Closed Championship.  If the 2019 Canadian Closed Championship does not take place, or if the Champion is ineligible, then the Champion may use the travel grant for the 2019 Canadian Open.

Players must qualify per the Alberta Closed Regulations.

The Ratings List is determined by the highest CFC rating between January 1, and April 4, 2019.

Drawing of lots will be done on Tuesday, April 16. If any player drops out for any reason before the Championship starts, he or she will be replaced in the pairings with the next player on the rating list.

Tie Break:
Official ACA tie-breaking rules are in effect. Cash prizes are split equally.
