Qualifier for the 2018 Alberta Closed
Format: 5-round Swiss, CFC & FIDE rated
Time control: Game in 90 minutes with a 30-second increment from move 1
Round times: Saturday – 10 am, ~2 pm, ~6 pm; Sunday – 10 am, ~2 pm or ASAP. A 30-minute break between games is guaranteed. Default late time is 60 minutes.
Entry fee: $30 if pre-registered online before noon, Friday, February 9. $35 on-site. $5 discount for juniors (age 20 and under). GM/IM/FM title holders receive free entry. CFC membership is required and may be purchased on-site. Annual membership is $43 for adults, $28 for juniors. A single CFC tournament membership is $21 for adults, $11 for juniors.
Registration process: Fill out the Registration Form above. Payment will be made on-site by cash.On-site Registration: 9:15-9:45 am on Saturday, February 10.
Prizes: The winner (if an Albertan) qualifies for the 2018 Alberta Closed. All entry fees go to the prize fund except for the ACA dues of $5 per paid participant. Edmonton Chess Club guarantees a $300 first prize.
Byes: A maximum of two ½-point byes available in rounds 1-4 if requested before the start of round 1.
Qualification for Alberta Closed: Based on a regular ACA tie-breaking system in case of a tie for first place.
