2018 Alberta Junior Championship

Eligibility: Anyone born after January 1, 1999.
ACA junior membership ($1/year, included in CFC memberships) required.\

Registration: Fill out the form on the right

Entry fee: $30 if preregistered online by noon, Friday, November 16. $35 onsite. Championship players are free. Payment will be made onsite by either cash or cheque made out to “Alberta Chess Association.” Pre-registered players must come by 9:45 am on the morning of the first round, or they won’t be paired.

Section: Championship
This is a closed 6-player round robin. No byes available. Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move. No entry fee. CFC & FIDE rated. Alberta residents only. The winners of the 2018 Edmonton Junior Regional and Calgary Junior Regional will automatically qualify. The other four spots will be filled by players with the highest CFC rating between July 18 and Oct 17, 2018. Players are eligible only by gaining a full participation point since the 2017 Alberta Junior Championship. 1 participation point is awarded for the Edmonton and Calgary Junior Regionals. All other ACA tournaments are worth a half point. All qualifiers must confirm their entry by contacting Dustin by November 1.

This tournament is a qualifier for the 2019 SPFGI in St. Louis. The winner will be the official Alberta representative to this tournament. Alberta residents only. Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move. Additional age restriction: must be born after July 22, 2001.

1st place: $500 travel grant (airfare) to the 2019 SPFGI in St. Louis + Trophy
2nd: $100 coaching award + Trophy
3rd: Trophy

Section: Open
This is a five round, open Swiss. Game in 90 minutes + 30 seconds/move.

1st place: $100 coaching award + Trophy
2nd/3rd: Trophy

Section: Under-1300
This section will be a 7-round Swisses (or round robins if small). Restricted by rating. Game in 45 minutes + 30 seconds/move.

1st place: $100 of professional coaching + Trophy
2nd/3rd places: Trophy
